Questions & Answers

What is the difference between CitriSurf 77 and CitriSurf 77 Plus?

Both CitriSurf 77 and CitriSurf 77 Plus passivate stainless steel by removing contaminants and free iron from the surface. The key difference is that CitriSurf 77 Plus contains additional rust-removing additives, making it the better choice when visible rust or corrosion is already present on the surface.

What surfaces are CitriSurf products NOT compatible with?

CitriSurf products will cause damage to concrete, carbon steel, zinc, and galvanized steel. If there is an accidental spill onto any of these materials, rinse immediately with water. PVC pipe and fittings made from copper, brass, or bronze are also not recommended for long-term use with CitriSurf. CitriSurf is safe to use on fiberglass and will not cause damage.

Will CitriSurf damage or alter the finish of my stainless steel?

No. Unlike nitric acid-based passivation products, CitriSurf does not etch stainless steel and will not change the surface finish. In fact, CitriSurf will enhance the brightness of stainless steel when used as directed. As a precaution, it is always a good idea to test a small area before full application, particularly on stainless steel grills and home appliances.
